The COO Academy
This academy will be complementary to established corporate programmes, cross industry and trans-Atlantic. It will draw attention to an industry working together with a common purpose to address under representation and inequalities. This will be the voice of the COO community, at the centre of their respective organisations and collectively at the heart of the industry, and it is this voice and positioning that will make this initiative uniquely impactful.
Create opportunities for and support talent from underrepresented communities to enter the Chief Operating and Chief Control Office function.
Build a programme steered by a consortium of AW members to support the programme financially and with expertise from within the firm that builds diversity and creates a career path for untapped talent
Initially target high school students in Canada, US and UK from schools in communities where banking is usually not considered a career option or banks do not normally recruit, focussing on ethnic or social minorities underrepresented in the industry
Demystify the industry through a balanced course of workshops delivered by AW/sponsoring banks professionals/academic providers where necessary
Support career planning skills and provide experiential learning via internships and work placements to create employment opportunities
Build on model for undergraduates, where it complements existing graduate programmes
Aim to start first cohort in Autumn/Fall 2021
