When defining what angle we were going to approach the mammoth challenge that is ESG, we rested on what the COO community told us was their pre-eminent challenge: data, and data standardisation.
The entirety of the data challenge is not, of course, owned and/or directed by the COO, nor is its oversight. But the central and elevated position of the COO gives the COO a unique position and visibility of the organisation’s approach to addressing this challenge.
Subsequently, the aim of the iCOOC 2022 ESG Working Group was not to seek a solution, but to drive debate, to free up thought and expression and to deliver to the community perspectives that they could take back to their own companies for review and analysis.
